The smart portfolio: diversifying into hospitality real estate

Concentration builds wealth; diversification protects it. Why hospitality shares belong in a family portfolio.
Most family portfolios in Bangladesh look alike: a bank deposit, some gold, and a plot on the edge of the city. It is a sensible start, but it leans on a single idea, that land will always rise.
Concentration is how families build wealth. Diversification is how they keep it. Adding a different kind of asset, one that behaves differently, is what steadies a portfolio through good years and hard ones.
Hospitality is a natural complement to land. A plot earns nothing until you sell it. A resort share earns while you hold it, and demand for weddings, retreats and travel tends to hold up even when other markets wobble.
Location does the heavy lifting. The Dhaka–Mawa corridor is on the primary growth path of the country, and the Padma Bridge continues to pull people and business south.
Shares also solve an old, quiet problem: inheritance. A single plot cannot be split cleanly among children without disputes. Shares divide neatly, so a legacy passes on without a fight.
Entry is far lower than most people expect, which means a family can begin building this position without tying up everything in one asset.
A strong portfolio is not about chasing the highest number. It is about owning the right mix, so that whatever the year brings, the family stays secure.
